The Wayne Reed Christian Childcare Center family celebrates the wonderful life and legacy of Diana Reed, wife of Wayne Reed for whom the center is named. Surrounded by her loving family, Diana passed away after a short illness on October 3, 2012, in Nashville, Tenn. Diana played a crucial role in the creation of the WRCCC and supported its ongoing ministry. She is shown here in a photo with Wayne and some of the center’s children.
In the mid-1990s she and a friend were talking about the need for early intervention for at-risk children. When the potential for a preschool was brought up, Diana shouted, “That’s what Wayne says all the time!” The idea for the Wayne Reed Center was born.
She helped Wayne keep the center’s financial records since its earliest days. They both knew the name of every child who attended the center, even if they saw them only in pictures. She prayed continuously for those children, their families, the staff and the greater community served by the center. She also was an avid reader who believed in promoting literacy among very young children.
Her friends will miss her broad smile, hearty laugh and vibrant personality. Her sudden death has saddened us all.
